The marriage of house music and high fashion might have been a long
time coming, but Princess Julia has always been determinedly playing
cupid and has successfully brought them together with her glamorous,
infectious style of djing and producing.
Having
officially taken to the decks at the infamous Daisy Chain her career
really developed its own legendary status with her residencies at
Queer Nation and the internationally famous Kinky Gerlinky. She
began working with Wayne Shires on the Diorama Parties and at his
first club, Bar Industria, and was getting noticed for her guest
appearances on the Kiss FM show "Judge and the Jury" and
on "Giving It Up". This lead to her legendary own show
on Girls FM, guest slots on Danny Rampling's Radio One show and
a heap of publicity which drew her to the attention of top fashion
designer Antonio Berardi. He then collaborated with her on three
consecutive catwalk shows. The fashion connection didn't lose the
"Princess" her clubbing credentials as she was invited
to compile Kinky Trax Vol 4 which was released as a double cd with
DJ Sneak. This projected her into the international league with
guest appearances throughout Europe and her first forays into the
United States.
More
recently Julia has developed her residency at London's CRASH since
it's inception 3 years ago and has gained her a huge following,
leading her to compile the first CRASH compilation "the Original
Sound of Underground London" to be released mid April. She
showcased the CRASH set at the press launch at Pump during the 2002
Winter Music Conference and she returned for a monthly residency
at Level.
Now
with her own regular radio show on www.trust
thedj.com/princessjulia she is amassing a truly international
fanbase. She is also currently working on two new recording projects,
one with Malcolm Duffy and Miquel Pallitero of DTPM fame entitled
"The Punters" and the other "Mobile Disco",
which is causing a considerable buzz with its nu-fusion mix of all
genres of dance music and especially embracing the new electronica.
